Adrian Hill

Adrian Hill Fine Art opened in Holt, Norfolk in July 2013 to showcase quality and diverse works from private collections and some of the best-known names in Modern British Art. Works selected from full members of the Royal Academy and Royal institutes, societies and federations are hanging alongside paintings by Edward Seago RWS RBA (1910-1974), Sir Alfred Munnings RA (1878-1959) and Laurence Stephen Lowry RA RBS (1887-1976). The gallery also showcases works from other leading British artists including David Hockney RA OM CH, Sir Peter Blake RA, Peter Wileman FROI RSMA FRSA and Rosa Sepple PPRI. A second Fine Art Gallery opened in Stamford, Lincolnshire in August 2020.

Who is on display at the moment?

Currently I have a mixed exhibition of around 50 pieces of 20th Century and modern British artworks including works by Hockney, Lowry, Seago and Sir William Russell Flint. I tend to represent full members selected from the major British societies and institutes including Peter Wileman, Rosa Sepple, Robert E Wells, Brian Ryder and Ken Howard.

Anything exciting coming up?

I am currently working on two major solo exhibitions in London for 2023, for artists Sylvette David (now known as Lydia Corbett), who was Picasso’s muse, and Rosa Sepple, past President of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours. I am also currently planning a retrospective exhibition of over 50 Edward Seago paintings in Holt, Norfolk in September 2024.

What can we expect to see at the BAF?

A good healthy mix of British art from the aforementioned artists!

What's your favourite public gallery in the UK?

I love visiting the Royal Academy galleries whenever I am in London, as there is always such a rich and diverse portfolio of works to see. Anthony Gormley’s exhibition and the Lucian Freud self-portraits were among my recent favourites.

If you were cast away, which single artwork would you want as company on your desert island?

I am very lucky to own a very small original self-portrait by David Hockney… and much like in the film Castaway with Tom Hanks, I could envisage spending many hours talking about life and art to this modest piece!
