WATERAID ANNOUNCED AS OFFICIAL CHARITY FOR 2022
British Art Fair announces a partnership with WaterAid which will see a collection of site-specific climate-themed works go under the hammer at this year’s fair to raise awareness of the devastating impact of climate change on vulnerable communities’ access to clean water.
As part of the charity’s commitment to supporting rising stars in the art world, the British artists featured range from celebrities and household names to emerging artists. All the artists involved are kindly donating from between 50% to 100% of their sale to WaterAid, helping to bring clean water to everyone, everywhere.
Gay Hutson, Fair Director, British Art Fair, said:
“Many artists have been instrumental in challenging the status quo of the day. Through their creativity, artists are ideally placed to be at the forefront of delivering hard truths which others cannot. It is a pleasure to partner with WaterAid and see that today’s artists look to support their vital work in combatting climate change and its devastating effects on our world.”
Jennie York, Director of Communications and Fundraising at WaterAid in the UK, said:
“We are thrilled to be the official charity partner for the British Art Fair. One in ten people do not have clean water close to home and climate change is making it even harder for vulnerable communities. Our collaboration at this year’s event will be an integral moment to shine a light on this through the creativity of our artistic supporters, as part of our ongoing climate campaigning. We are looking forward to unveiling these incredible artworks of change to the world.”
The exhibition of works and auction will be held on the second floor of Saatchi Gallery during British Art Fair 2022. Details of the auction will be revealed one week ahead of the fair.
